Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page. I hope to give you some insight about myself and my practice here at Kaiser Permanente.
I am a first-generation American of Greek heritage. I was born on the East Coast and grew up in the Midwest, but longed to live on the West Coast. During my undergraduate years at the University of Michigan, I was an Angel Scholar. I was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society in medical school. I am a member of various neurological surgery associations, including the San Diego Academy of Neurological Surgeons, of which I am a past president. I am a clinical instructor at UC San Diego and was awarded the first Golden Scalpel Teaching Award by the residents in 2000. Being from the Midwest, where at the time there were no integrated health care models, I admired the philosophy of Kaiser Permanente. I feel fortunate to have joined this organization in 1992.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I am a general neurological surgeon and perform most aspects of neurosurgery. But my interests are in cerebral vascular surgery and surgical neuro-oncology. I also perform minimally invasive neurological surgery for both children and adult members. My colleagues and I operate together as much as possible; we feel it is both intellectually stimulating and provides the very best care for our patients. Finally, I enjoy teaching and interacting with the residents in neurosurgery from UC San Diego. It keeps me on my toes and helps me stay on the cutting edge of neurosurgery.
Cómo vivo bien
I am a firm believer in the healthy mind, healthy body philosophy. I exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet. Keeping in touch with the environment and the out-of-doors is important to me. I feel it helps me concentrate better at work and improves my daily interpersonal relations.
