Welcome to my Web page. I am the regional chief of the Department of Genetics. Our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality genetic services with compassion to our members through patient advocacy, diagnosis, and education. We evaluate members of all ages throughout the Southern California region. I currently serve both the Los Angeles and Woodland Hills medical centers.
I grew up in New Jersey and have lived and trained from coast to coast! I received my undergraduate training at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, medical and biochemical training at University of Tennessee, pediatric training at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and genetics training at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai medical centers. I am board certified in pediatrics and clinical genetics. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 2005, I served as a physician, professor, and scientist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. I am a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Society of Human Genetics, the Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders, and the Little People of America Medical Advisory Board. I have a special interest in a number of genetic and hereditary disorders such as skeletal dysplasias (abnormal bone and cartilage conditions, such as dwarfism), chromosomal conditions (such as Down syndrome), and cancer.
Medical genetics is a complex subspecialty that intimidates many patients and even some physicians! Working in this rapidly changing field is both exciting and challenging. By teaming up with genetic counselors, primary care physicians, and other subspecialists, we tackle both straightforward and complex problems, and explain issues to members in terms that they can understand.
Whether I am stuck in rush hour traffic or relaxing at home with my family, music feeds my soul. I enjoy jamming and performing various styles with other musicians, especially jazz. My other hobbies include cooking, gardening, photography, and travel.
