Acerca de mí
Hello, and welcome to my Web page. My name is Dr. Calderon, and I am a kidney specialist (nephrologist) at Kaiser Permanente Lancaster Medical Offices. Nephrologists diagnose and treat patients with advanced kidney disease, help those who need dialysis, and manage kidney transplants. I also oversee home dialysis programs offered here in the Antelope Valley.
When I was younger, many people didn't believe I could become a doctor. As someone who tends to go against the grain, I decided to prove them wrong! As an intern at Loma Linda University Medical Center, I became very interested in renal processes. A nephrologist at Loma Linda took me under his wing and taught me a great deal. After learning so much from my mentor, I decided to specialize in the field. I became chief resident at Loma Linda, and then went on to serve a fellowship with the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, where I was introduced to the Kaiser Permanente approach to health in body, mind, and spirit. It impressed me enough to choose Kaiser Permanente as my new home after my fellowship concluded.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Members who are referred to our department by a primary care physician are often anxious and concerned about their condition, so the first thing we do is explain the facts of kidney disease. We have dedicated educators on staff who provide details of the disease. We also answer all of their questions and discuss the treatment options available to them. We encourage every member to play an active role in helping us to develop an appropriate treatment plan. We've had very good outcomes with two home-based dialysis options, which allow members to receive treatment in the privacy and convenience of their own home. This is an area in which I specialize, and am happy to discuss the pros and cons with potential candidates. The best way to avoid the issues of chronic kidney disease is to manage any other chronic problems from which you may suffer. Diabetes and high blood pressure are the most common precursors to renal problems.
Cómo vivo bien
While I don't have much free time on my hands between work and helping to raise two children, when I get the chance, I enjoy fishing, hunting, and just being outdoors.
