Acerca de mí
Welcome all to my Web page. Many of you are my patients already, but for those who are not, I am an ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma. I joined Kaiser Permanente over 18 years ago. I look forward to seeing my existing patients and all others who may need my help and care.
I am of Italian descent, born in Argentina. I came to the U.S. over 30 years ago. I graduated from the ophthalmology program at USC. My glaucoma subspecialty was done at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan. Although I had many job opportunities in New York, my heart was set on returning to beautiful, sunny California to work. Once back, I decided to join Kaiser Permanente and have never looked back.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
As all of my patients know, I run a very busy practice. Many of my patients tell me, Doc, you should use roller skates. I would agree, if we didn’t have a good deal of carpet around here. At any rate, I believe in the old-fashioned practice of medicine: talking to my patients and listening to their problems (eye-related or not). I take great interest in the well-being of my patients. The idea is to help the individual as a whole, not just his or her eye problem. It is a good day the day that I feel I truly achieved that. On the administrative side of the practice, I used to be the assistant chief of the department, and I was in that role for several years. Since the beginning of the year, I took on the responsibility of being the chief of the department, and that keeps me even busier—but I continue to take care of all my patients.
Cómo vivo bien
I frequently tell my patients that they need to decide whether they want to be happy or not in life. A long time ago, I decided I wanted to be happy. I truly believe it is all about attitude. I have seen people with very little that lead happy lives and others that have much wasting their lives being miserable. I try to stay in good mental and emotional shape by reminding myself frequently of this philosophy. As for keeping in good physical condition, I like to exercise regularly and watch closely what I eat. I could not preach this to my patients if I was not doing it myself.
