Acerca de mí
Hi, my name is Elaine. I was born in Hong Kong, and my family and I moved to Orange County when I was 9 years old. I have lived in Orange County most of my life and consider it my home. We are raising 2 boys. I volunteer at their school to help kids with reading. Last year, on career day, I brought my equipment and talked to the class about my profession. The class and I enjoyed it so much that I am planning on doing this annually. Our family also volunteers at the local food banks and retirement homes.
Since I was born in Hong Kong, I am fluent in Cantonese and speak some Mandarin. I had many part-time jobs while I was in high school and college. I was a bank teller, a cashier, a waitress, and a dental assistant, and I also worked at Disneyland. All my work experiences guided me on my final career choice. While I was attending college at UC Berkeley, I worked part-time as an optician for an optometrist, where I really enjoyed helping people see and look their best. This eventually led me to become an optometrist.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I have been working at Kaiser Permanente for over a decade. I fit contact lenses, and I am certified to treat glaucoma, among other ocular diseases. I love to get to know members' backgrounds and interests. Helping people with their visual needs and meeting people with different backgrounds is what I love most about my job. We have a great team here at Kaiser Permanente, and we work closely with other physicians, including the Family Medicine and Ophthalmology Departments. We also use some of the most advanced technology in our offices and offer a wide range of optical services. I have always liked to contribute my time outside the medical office. At optometry school, I was the treasurer for our class. I served as parliamentarian officer for Kaiser Permanente Association of Southern California Optometrists. I was also involved in our Regional Professional Practice Committee and helped improve patient care and best practices. Currently, I serve as a representative for the doctors in the local Unit Base Team.

My boys keep me active. During the weekend, I often play ball or tag with my kids at the park. During the weekdays, I try to do cardio exercises on the elliptical. My hobbies include swimming, reading, and listening to music.
