Acerca de mí
Hello, and welcome to my Web page. My name is Edward O. Blews III and I'm honored to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente team. I specialize in adult infectious diseases, and serve as the chair of the Infection Control Committee for Kaiser Permanente Fontana and Ontario Medical Centers. I attended medical school at Loma Linda University, and then stayed on for a four-year combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics. Following my residency, I completed a two-year fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. After that, I served at Loma Linda University Medical Center for three years, as both an adult infectious diseases attending physician and as the Associate Medical Director for Hospital Epidemiology. I then joined Kaiser Permanente.
I initially chose to become a physician, like most other physicians, to help people. However, my interests have grown over time and I've come to enjoy the science of being a physician while continuing to fulfill my calling to help people. When I'm not involved in medicine, I enjoy spending time with my wife and children, as well as participating in triathlons. My dream is to one day compete in the Ironman World Championships. I majored in English in college, and as such I continue to enjoy reading and occasionally writing.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
My practice philosophy is to follow the golden rule, which is to treat each person the way you'd want to be treated. I attempt to enter into each patient interaction with a deep sense of empathy, and try to meet the needs of each individual. Having the opportunity to care for people is an incredible privilege, and I'm honored by the trust placed in me. Confidentiality is extremely important to me as is having an open line of communication with my patients. As such, my goals are to always return phone calls and messages in a timely fashion (ideally within 24 hours). I also believe that all questions are valid, and that communication with patients must be culturally sensitive and done in a way that allows the individual to understand our discussion.
Cómo vivo bien
I thrive through exercise, including swimming, biking, and running (and allowing myself to rest and recover!). I believe that to provide the standard of care for which I strive, I must be healthy and well in order to be my best for my patients.
