Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page. I’m happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my work as a physician at Kaiser Permanente. I am a board-certified anesthesiologist who specializes in pediatric anesthesia. I’ve practiced at the San Diego Medical Center for over 25 years.
I was born in Flint, Michigan, but moved to Los Angeles with my parents when I was 2. I grew up in the North L.A. area, attended college at Pepperdine University in Malibu, and worked for a biotechnology company before I enrolled in medical school at Wake Forest University. I did my internship in pediatrics at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and completed my anesthesiology residency at UC San Diego, followed by board certification in 1990. I am divorced and have two grown children.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Medicine is a wonderful career because it involves interacting with and helping people on a regular basis. I’m honored to be entrusted with my patients’ well-being, and I strive to treat every one of them as I would my own family. I feel fortunate to be able to serve children and also work in a practice that allows me to provide anesthesia services to adults as part of their obstetrical care in the Labor and Delivery Department.
Cómo vivo bien
I was genetically gifted to be tall, thin, and lean. However, I have a long family history of medical problems early in life, so I’m very serious about taking care of myself and maintaining my health. I run, bike, and work out in a gym regularly. I watch what I eat and watch my portion sizes. I work inside every day under artificial lighting, so every chance I get I go outside. I ride a dirt bike, mountain bike, snow ski 30 days every winter, and occasionally surf and boogie board. I also like to sail, kayak, and do river trips. I greatly enjoy going off-roading in my four-wheel drive truck. I usually do at least one backpacking trip every summer and fall, and enjoy peak bagging (reaching mountain peaks) and rock scrambling. I also sometimes practice yoga and martial arts to strengthen my mental coordination. I attend church. I have always felt my faith strengthens my resolve with the tough emotional issues that I face dealing as I do with sick children.
