Hi! Welcome to my home page! My name is Connie Wu. I am one of many optometrists working at Thousand Oaks Medical Center.
Before I joined Kaiser Permanente, I worked in various optometric practice settings, including Veterans Affairs Sepulveda, private offices, and a large laser eye center. My academic training and work experience prepared me well for a hospital-based optometric care setting. I have been with Kaiser Permanente for over a decade, and I work part-time, which allows me to balance career life and family life. I have been a Girl Scout leader of my daughter's troop for 7 years. My family loves to visit national parks and vacation in Hawaii. On the weekends and weeknights, our family is at kids' baseball games and swim meets. I love paper crafting and spending my time alone in my craft room making projects and getting ink on my fingers, often on a late Friday night after everyone's fast asleep.
You can find me at the Thousand Oaks Medical Offices on Hillcrest on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Patients enjoy coming to Thousand Oaks for the small, intimate setting. I am a glaucoma-certified optometrist, and I completed a postgraduate residency training at VA Sepulveda. Besides comprehensive eye exams, I also provide low vision aids to members who have reduced vision that cannot be corrected by glasses or medical surgery. Often, the reduced vision is caused by conditions such as macular degeneration or diabetic retinopathy. There are various low vision aids I use to show members and help them better adapt and make use of their remaining vision.
I get most of my physical exercise from hiking trails at the national parks and camping with Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. I take a weekly study class on my days off while my kids are in school. The class keeps me focused and purposeful amidst the numerous demands and challenges of life. I'm most grateful to have my best friends and my husband—they give me unconditional love and support and help me enjoy life. I look forward to meeting you at the Optometry Department.
