Hello and welcome to my Web page. I am honored to have this chance to introduce myself to you and share some information about me personally, as well as my credentials as a surgeon at the Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. I have worked for Kaiser Permanente since completing my residency in 1989. I feel very fortunate to be here because of the wonderful surgical and medical colleagues with whom I work. I look forward to providing you with the best surgical care possible. I feel that it is important that you feel confident and comfortable with your surgeon. It is my hope that this page will help provide you with information about me as a surgeon and as an individual.
I am a native Southern Californian who grew up as a Kaiser Permanente Member from a very early age. I did both my undergraduate and medical school training at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine. I was fortunate to have received great training in general surgery at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco where I completed my internship, residency and chief residency in 1989. I have been certified by the American Board of Surgery since 1991.
My philosophy in providing care to my patients is to sit down with the patient and, if necessary or appropriate, the patient's family, to attempt to determine what the needs and preferences are for each individual patient. I feel honored that patients and their families have entrusted me with their lives for many years. My practice is mostly clinical working as a surgeon involved directly in the care of patients. I have also enjoyed the privilege of teaching future surgeons since 2002 because we have USC surgery residents rotate through our hospital.
Keeping life in balance is very important to me. Outside of medicine, my family is my major priority. I have two very lovely and talented children with whom I enjoy as much time as possible. Both of my children are currently in college. My wife and I are each other's best friends and confidant. My interests outside of medicine include travel, photography, medical missionary work. I have the great fortune of living in southern California so that I can enjoy a variety of other outdoor activities. My most recent passion is scuba diving. I believe that proper lifestyle choices contribute significantly to an individual's overall mental and physical well-being.
