I appreciate this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you about my practice. It is very important that you feel comfortable with your physician, and I look forward to working with you in the future. I feel privileged to work at Kaiser Permanente and am proud to be part of this health care organization.
Obstetric and gynecology is my family business. My father (retired), uncle (retired), brother, and I are all ob-gyn physicians, and my wife (retired) was a labor and delivery nurse. My father loved his job so much that he steered the rest of us to follow in his footsteps. My brother and I are alumni of Wake Forest Medical School in North Carolina, where he stayed on as a clinical professor. I returned home to work with my father at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles. I’m also an associate clinical professor at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
I subspecialize in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery and urogynecology (urinary incontinence and pelvic relaxation) surgery. I have administrative duties in setting national standards of care for medical equipment, and I’m also very involved with resident training. I am blessed to be able to care for two or three generations of family members, many whom came to me when my father retired. They are more like old friends than patients.
I absolutely love working at Kaiser Permanente. However, finding the balance between work, family, personal interests, and fitness is challenging. When time permits, I am on the tennis courts, the ski slopes, 100 miles out at sea chasing tuna, or playing guitar in the backyard. I derive strength from my wonderful wife, two adult daughters, and a teenage son who each day makes advances in his battle with autism.
