Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page. I am an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports-related injuries of the knee, shoulder, and elbow, as well as non-sports related problems of the shoulder. I have been in practice since 2001. I have had a very busy practice taking care of patients ranging from the high-level, competitive athlete to the nonathletic with sports-related injuries.
I am a native of Southern California and I very much enjoy the active, healthy lifestyle often associated with life in California. As a youth, I had several sports injuries that forced me to take time off from athletic participation, and I learned firsthand how hard this can be. These experiences, combined with my interest in science and engineering, led me to a career in orthopedic surgery and to sports medicine. I did my orthopedic surgery residency at UCLA and then spent an extra year specializing in sports medicine. I was fortunate enough to train with two very well-known and well-respected sport medicine surgeons, Dr. James Andrews and Dr. William Clancy. I am board certified in orthopedic surgery and an active member of several orthopedic and sports medicine organizations. My wife and I have two children, and we live in Orange County. We are an active family and enjoy many outdoor activities, including a variety of recreational sports, exercising, traveling, camping, and going to the beach.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
As an orthopedic sports medicine and shoulder specialist, I work hard to meet the specific needs of the individual patient. In addition to striving to provide the highest level of operative and nonoperative care, I make every effort to help my patients become active again as soon as possible. I am fortunate to work with a highly skilled sports medicine team that includes six orthopedic surgeons, a family practice sports medicine specialist, several physician assistants, and a group of dedicated sports physical therapists. Our department is involved in on-the-field coverage for several local college football teams and participates in the medical coverage of other events, such as the Disney Half Marathon. Another important part of my professional life is my involvement in education and research. I am the director of the Kaiser Permanente Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship program, and I'm involved in research related to ACL and shoulder injuries.
Cómo vivo bien
I work very hard to find the appropriate balance between my busy orthopedic practice and spending time with my family. I am also a firm believer that an active, healthy lifestyle is important not only for physical health, but also for emotional well-being. I exercise daily and I am active in snow boarding, golf, beach volleyball, fly fishing, camping, body boarding, and trying to keep up with my two children.
