Thanks for visiting my Web page. I am a board-certified neonatologist, a pediatrician who cares for premature or critically ill newborns and infants. I look forward to the immense privilege of caring for your newborn baby.
I was born and raised in Oklahoma. After attending school in St. Louis and Pittsburgh, I moved to Los Angeles in 2004 for my pediatric training. During my training at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, I won the David W. Smith Pediatric Trainee Research Award and was the first "Featured Trainee" recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Perinatal Pediatrics. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2010, and then married my husband, who is also a Kaiser Permanente physician.
I am part of a team of five full-time neonatologists who cover the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) 24/7 at the Los Angeles Medical Center. We care for some of the highest acuity newborns in Southern California. Our department includes many incredible pediatric subspecialists to help take care of your baby. I really strive to treat all my patients like they are my family. This is what every patient and family deserves. When families bring their NICU graduates to see us years later, it doesn't just make my day – it makes my year!
I stay healthy by exercising regularly. I enjoy hiking and go to the gym almost daily. I cook vegan, but honestly, I am really a "flexitarian," a vegetarian who occasionally eats meat. I am very close to my family. Also, I love animals, and secretly lavish attention on my neighbor’s cat, Zuri who roams the street a few blocks from the hospital. Petting her helps me relax and reduces my stress level.
