Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page. Although I feel that nothing can ever attempt to replace meeting and sharing with someone in person, I hope that this will give you a little insight into who I am and why I enjoy being part of the Kaiser Permanente organization.
I am originally from England, but was whisked away to San Diego in 1999 by my wife, whom I met while practicing in Britain. I have never looked back: I love Southern California, and San Diego in particular. My wife is a physician as well, so we speak the same language! We have a young family and are constantly active—we love to hike, bike and go camping together. I am an avid runner and regular participate in half-marathons around Southern California: San Diego is nature's treadmill! I also enjoy cooking for my family and would describe myself as an experimentalist in the kitchen; my family can attest to the results...!
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I am a hospitalist, which means I practice in the hospital, caring for people who are acutely sick. I have had the opportunity to work in several hospitals in Southern California, and I find the environment at the Kaiser Permanente San Diego Medical Center to be one of the most organized and capable that I have ever worked in. There are numerous members of the health care team, ranging from the physicians and nurses to discharge planners, social workers and a host of other therapists who are all so enthusiastic about their role in a patient's care that it is truly an honor to be considered part of the team.
Cómo vivo bien
I certainly believe that the basis of staying healthy is eating well and exercising regularly; the trick is finding your own particular calling! Running is my therapy, both physically and mentally. I also love swimming, paddle-boarding, and snowboarding. In addition, I believe that there is another side to health that cannot necessarily be explained by purely scientific method, and I have an interest in alternative therapies. I would encourage everyone to look at health in the widest view possible: it is not just the absence of disease, but rather strength of body, mind and spirit.
