Welcome to my Web page! I'm glad to have this opportunity to present my credentials to you and share other information about myself. It’s very important that you feel comfortable with the physicians who care for you, and I hope this page will help you start to get to know me.
I was born in Afghanistan, a place much in the news these days. My family escaped the turmoil of war and settled in the United States when I was 11 years old. My parents valued education and tolerance above all else—they eagerly encouraged my pursuit of a medical career. After graduating from UCLA in 1993 with a degree in biology, I attended the Medical College of Wisconsin—an institution well-known for its emphasis on primary care and women's health. I received my medical degree with honors and was accepted to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center's internal medicine residency program, which I completed in 2000. I accepted a position with Kaiser Permanente in Orange County in 2001, and I’ve been privileged to help many people from many different places care for their health.
I’m a member of the Internal Medicine Department, and I practice in the inpatient setting—I take care of members when they are admitted to the hospital. My professional philosophy is that a healthy lifestyle and preventive care are the best ways to promote and maintain your well-being. However, illness is a part of being human, and chronic illnesses—such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer—should be approached with compassion and diligent care as well.
I believe that I should practice what I preach, so I attempt to maintain my sense of life balance and health with regular exercise, a healthy diet, and a positive demeanor.
