Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page. I'm happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice and other interests. I hope that I have a chance to work with you to either maintain or restore your health.
I was born in Indiana but moved to California when I was 2 years old. I was raised in San Diego and Huntington Beach. I became interested in biology and the workings of the human body in high school, and then went on to graduate from the UC Irvine biological sciences program in 1977. I did a year of biomedical research in infectious diseases at UC Irvine Medical Center before entering Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. After graduation, I returned to do my internal medicine internship and residency at UC Irvine Medical Center. I started as an internist at Kaiser Permanente in July 1985. I can honestly say that the group of physicians I work with now is the most knowledgeable and collegial I’ve ever been associated with. Coming to work at Kaiser Permanente is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I was married in 1988, and have two great kids.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
For my first 20 years with Kaiser Permanente, I split my time between outpatient clinical medicine—first in Anaheim, then Mission Viejo and, finally, Irvine—and hospital medicine. In August of 2005, I transitioned to my current role as a hospitalist—a doctor who cares for members who have been hospitalized. It gives me a great sense of fulfillment. I also act as the physician lead for Orange County coding, documentation, and audit operations.
Cómo vivo bien
My interests outside medicine include mineralogy and astronomy. For exercise, I like to play golf, tennis, table tennis, and softball, and to go to the desert to collect minerals and mine gold at my claim in Randsburg, California. We don't make any money at mining, but it's a great chance to get some fresh air and exercise, and "get away from it all."
