Hi, my name is Dr. Adil Farooqui. It is my pleasure to welcome you to my Web page. I am a proud member of the Kaiser Permanente surgical staff, and I look forward to providing you with the best care possible.
I was born in Pakistan. After graduating from the University of Karachi, I traveled to the United Kingdom for surgical training. I spent seven years training in Ireland, Scotland, and England. After receiving a Royal College of Surgeons fellowship, I immigrated to the United States and spent another seven years of training at USC in surgery and colon and rectal surgery. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2004 and have since been focused in providing care for patients suffering from colon and rectal diseases and anal pathology, which is the evaluation and diagnosis of anal diseases. My wife is a doctor as well but she decided to be a full-time mother. I have a 23-year-old son who has autism as well as a 21-year-old daughter who is studying film. My wife has devoted her life for the care of our family, especially my son, who, in spite of being an individual with special needs, has done remarkably well with the support of my wife and the community we live in.
I am a specialist in colon and rectal diseases. My focus of interest is treating these diseases with minimally invasive techniques like laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgery for colon rectal cancers, diverticulitis, rectal prolapse, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s disease. In addition, complex anal pathology like anal fistula disease, anal fissures and hemorrhoids are all a part of my day’s work. I look forward to providing you with specialist care, as I know it requires special knowledge and understanding of this field. I, with the help of my colleagues, have established a center for minimally invasive surgery where we can perform major operations with minimal incisions, minimal pain, and early recovery from surgery.
Having a balance in work and life is something in which I firmly believe. I am a family man and enjoy the company of my wife and children. We explore the vibrant cultural scene of Los Angeles and participate in outdoor activities like trekking the mountains, walking, and playing squash. My hobbies include restoring classic cars, and I enjoy the simplicity in their beautiful form and function. My son produces music, and I help with the audio and video recording of his performances. My wife and I are active members of LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art), which keeps us culturally enriched. We are also members of the Los Angeles Public Library and participate in the literary circuit. We volunteer our time with the Pacific Asia Museum and strongly support the cultural awareness that the museum provides to the citizens of Los Angeles.
