I’m glad to have this opportunity to present my credentials to you and share other information about myself. It is very important that you feel comfortable with your physician, and I hope this page will help you start to get to know me.
I was born in Cairo, Egypt, where I lived for 17 years. I received my first 12 years of education with the French Christian Brothers of the De La Salle High Schools. My family then immigrated to the United States and we chose Los Angeles to be our new home. I went to college and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology from UCLA. After working for many years in medical research for USC, I decided to get a master’s degree in medical technology, and then pursued a degree in medicine from Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. Obtaining a medical degree gave me the chance to be on the clinical side of medicine, and hence to be more clinically available to my members.
I practiced privately for some time, but joining the Kaiser Permanente family has enabled me to focus exclusively on the medical care and physical well-being of my members while leaving the business side to others in the organization. I’ve always viewed medicine as a team effort. Physicians, nurses, and members must all work together and be actively involved in the therapeutic process.
I was raised to believe that a healthy mind requires a healthy body. I try to live by this principle on a daily basis. I strive to eat healthy meals by following a Mediterranean diet, and I enjoy walking at least 30 minutes four or five times per week. I also enjoy church and family activities on weekends. I strongly believe that to remain healthy and to make the most out of this gift we call life we must achieve balance for our physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
