About Me
Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I have been a practicing pediatrician for 30 years and have enjoyed a diversity of work experience in Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley. However, here at Kaiser Permanente is where I have been able to build enduring relationships with families and coworkers.
Biography
I was born in Pittsburgh and moved to California in 1971 to attend medical school in San Francisco. School and work opportunities followed, so you could say I have now been a Californian most of my life. Though I originally thought either research chemistry or journalism would be my career choice, my love of science and helping people (that freshman chemistry lab was just too sterile!) led to a career in medicine instead.
About my practice
I have been fortunate to work at the Indian Hill Medical Offices in Claremont for the past 20 years, with a wonderful, diverse group of patients. My excellent clinical assistant, along with my fellow pediatrician and his assistant, all share a philosophy of comprehensive care for each patient. Sometimes this slows down the workflow, but patients leave with all questions answered and, if needed, a follow-up plan for lingering issues.
How I thrive
I am rejuvenated midday by my daily “escape” to my car for a sack lunch and a good book (I'm into modern classics, sci-fi, and an occasional topical nonfiction), with jazz, classical music, or National Public Radio in the background. I am still struggling to incorporate some regular exercise before or after work into my routine. (“Physician, heal thyself!”)
