About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I have been with the Southern California Permanente Medical Group in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1989. I am proud to be part of the Kaiser Permanente family here.

Biography

I am originally from Minnesota, coming from a large family of five siblings, my heritage being mostly German and Norwegian. When I couldn't stand scraping the windshield, plugging in the car, and swatting mosquitoes any longer, I moved to beautiful Southern California. I always loved the sciences but after being a nerd in high school, I discovered how much I loved being with other people. Being a physician became the perfect way to combine my talents and my interests.

About my practice

I have been very happy working with Kaiser Permanente where the hospital's philosophy of care blends well with my own ideas for helping members to achieve their optimal state of health. Our department team includes physicians, midwives, nurse practitioners, as well as an essential group of support staff. I practice general obstetrics and gynecology and love the variety of work that this allows me. Besides taking care of women during their pregnancies and delivering their children, I enjoy caring for those who are not pregnant and at all stages of their lives. I find it a joy to watch members and their families mature and grow together. My practice also includes colposcopy (evaluation for cervical cancers), hysteroscopic procedures (looking inside the uterus with a scope to diagnose and treat various problems), and helping women to deal with abnormal uterine bleeding problems without the traditional hysterectomy.

How I thrive

I have always been active outside of the hospital. I enjoy working out regularly, traveling the world, and exploring as much of what life has to offer as I can. My family and friends are the most important things in my life.
