About Me

I am so glad to have the opportunity to present my credentials to you and share other information about myself. It's extremely important that you feel comfortable with your personal physician, and I hope this page will help you start to get to know me.

Biography

I grew up in a small town in northern New Mexico, but I move to Southern California at the age of 12. Even when I was a young child, I knew that I wanted to be a doctor because I had a passion for science and anatomy. At age eight I had a library card and my favorite books to check out were human anatomy books. I would spend hours reading about the human body. After spending time in the Marine Corps I started my long journey towards becoming a doctor. I knew that I wanted to be able to make a real difference in people's lives, and practicing medicine gives me that opportunity. Working at Kaiser Permanente has provided that opportunity in ways that exceeded my expectations.

About my practice

Medicine as a career is a very special opportunity to connect and help people in a meaningful way, utilizing medical skills and knowledge, but also listening and responding to what patients need. Being a doctor allows people to share with me their concerns, innermost fears and hopes; it is a privilege to help patients understand what concerns them, translate what they may not grasp, facilitate getting them the appropriate evaluations, and communicate with them and their families. I feel very honored that patients have entrusted me with their care and strive to treat them as I would my own family.

How I thrive

I firmly believe in Kaiser Permanente's philosophy of total health and try to live it in my life every day. My family life is my major priority. I enjoy family outings to UCLA basketball games, I practice basketball with my son, and I help my daughter with her soccer skills. My wife, three sons, daughter, and I enjoy summer boating trips to the various lakes in California, Nevada, and Utah. I believe that keeping the mind active is also important. When I have quiet time I enjoy reading my medical journals, my Bible, and any books on theology that I can get my hands on.
