About Me

I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. I am thankful to have a career in medicine in my home state and be near my family.

About my practice

I enjoy practicing internal medicine because it allows me to treat the patient as a whole person rather than focus on one area. Getting to know my patients and their interests and experiences is one of my favorite things about my job. I am particularly grateful to work with them over time to address their health needs. My philosophy is to rely on medical skills, not pills, to reach optimal health. I encourage my patients to try lifestyle changes like improving diet and exercise before turning to medication. I love working within the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group because my fellow physicians are highly skilled, professional, congenial and cooperative. For me medicine is a team effort and I am consistently impressed with our organization’s ability to collectively innovate to improve our members’ lives.

How I thrive

To stay healthy physically and mentally, I spend a lot of time gardening. Nothing feels better than tending to my plants on a warm and sunny day in Hawaii. I also love to be with family and friends as often as I can.
