About Me

With over 25 years of experience, I have a deep passion for providing holistic and evidence-based patient-centered care. My fascination with the health care profession began in South Carolina, while in middle school, where I would volunteer at our local nursing home and children's shelter. Through a summer internship program my junior year of high school, I was granted a unique opportunity to work alongside hardworking health care professionals at our local hospital. As one of the first student participants in this program, my experience was even featured in our hometown newspaper. I soon realized that this would be my calling and passion in life.

In pursuit of my dream, I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing, both from Clemson University, and a doctor of nursing practice (DNP) degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, each with honors. I currently hold a national board certification as a family nurse practitioner (FNP-BC).

Additionally, I am an active member of several professional organizations including Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and United Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Association of Atlanta.

About my practice

My career began at a Level 1 trauma center hospital in S.C., where I served patients for many years in the cardiovascular surgery and the medical-surgical intensive care units. After earning my FNP certification, I began my advanced practice career by serving patients at a federally qualified community health care center, for the indigent, homeless, and underserved patient populations. I also served for many years as associate professor of nursing at Greenville Technical College. After earning my doctorate, I moved to Atlanta and began teaching at the Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University. In 2018, I continued my advanced practice career and began serving as a nurse practitioner with Kaiser Permanente.

At Kaiser Permanente, I work to aid in the delivery of excellent, integrated health care to members within our adult primary care. Our team of clinicians work to achieve our strategic goals of providing safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, person-centered care. We provide comprehensive, coordinated, high-quality medical care, which includes in-person preventive medicine and chronic disease management, in addition to same-day, episodic visits through our telephone and video visit services.

How I thrive

My faith, family, and friends are most important to me, and I believe that a balanced life is key to overall health. I enjoy several hobbies including traveling and exploring other countries and cultures, cooking new dishes, and finding fun things to do with family and friends. I enjoy long walks in the park with my dog, as well as weightlifting and interval training to stay fit.

Serving others through community service and outreach continues to enhance and enrich my life. Through partnerships with various churches, schools, and professional healthcare organizations, I have served in many local initiatives such as health fairs, 5K awareness marathons, scholarship fundraisers, food, clothing, and toy drives, as well as outreach to the homeless and indigent populations in the Atlanta metro areas.

I also enjoy international missionary work, and have volunteered in medical, humanitarian, and faith-based missionary trips to Ghana and Cape Town, South Africa.
