About Me

I have lived in Oregon all my life and love its geography and outdoor activities. I grew up near Eugene and moved to the Portland area when I attended George Fox University for my bachelor's degree and master of arts in Counseling Psychology. I have been a therapist in various settings since 1997, primarily in community mental health prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 2014. I became a therapist because I believe firmly that psychotherapy can be a very important part of recovery for individuals who have dealt with difficult issues or currently struggle with a mental health condition. I enjoy motivating and encouraging people to address difficult issues and move forward in positive and healthy ways.

About my practice

As a Mental Health Triage Therapist, I provide brief phone screenings to determine medical necessity and appropriate level of care for Kaiser Permanente members seeking or referred to mental health services. In this role, I offer brief interventions, crisis stabilization and referrals to community resources as deemed appropriate. I do not currently see patients.

How I thrive

I water and snow ski, play tennis, hike, spend time at the beach, attend concerts, and travel with my wife and two daughters. One of my more recent hobbies is home roasting my own coffee. I am involved in my local church and my faith is an important source of strength and inspiration to me.
