About Me

Welcome. Thank you for taking the time to visit to my Web page. I appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself to you and I look forward to participating in your foot health care.

Biography

I was born and raised in Southern California. I was fortunate to remain in California during my entire undergraduate, graduate, and residency career. I can't imagine living anywhere else, and I enjoy the diversity of people, cultures, and geography that our state has to offer. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in kinesiology at UCLA. I was fascinated by human movement and the factors that affect it. The knowledge I gained from my undergraduate studies, particularly in biomechanics, was extremely useful for my podiatry training at California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco. I honed my skills during my residency at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, Richmond, and Oakland. When my residency was complete, I was fortunate to be hired by Kaiser Permanente Bellflower, where I have been employed since 1997.

About my practice

Kaiser Permanente provides a model that particularly suits the way I enjoy practicing medicine. I believe in applying common sense, efficiency, and engineering in my approach to surgery and in helping my patients make treatment choices. I believe in evidence-based medicine and prevention as the cornerstones for successful treatment. I am very committed to educating my patients about the causes of their problems--if you understand your problem, it can be easier to carry out the steps involved in rehabilitation. I enjoy being a part of a large medical team in which I can interact and consult with other medical specialists. I have come to fully appreciate the ever-evolving electronic medical record, which allows me instant access to information. My goal is to provide high-quality care in a pleasant, nonintimidating atmosphere.

How I thrive

I believe that the body is a temple and that we are responsible for maintaining the body’s well-being through regular exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. If we do what we can to maintain our bodies, we will usually be able to enjoy all that life has to offer. When I'm not at work, I enjoy traveling up and down the California coast with my wife and my beloved longboard, looking for that perfect wave. I also have a passion for golf, where I strive to achieve the elusive single-digit handicap. I also enjoy hiking, bicycling, and exploring little-traveled paths in the wilderness. When there is snow on the ground, you can find me skiing through the trees with members of my family. Good health starts from the ground up. Let's get your feet in shape so you can thrive!
