About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I would like to thank you for taking the time to find out a little bit more about me and my love for the field of medicine.

Biography

I was born in Southern California and have chosen to raise my family here. I love the diversity of the people in the area. I became a physician because I wanted to serve in such a diverse population. I enjoy helping people live their lives to the fullest, and there is no better occupation than medicine to do so.

About my practice

I'm a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation. As a physiatrist (someone who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation), I assist in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, the diagnosis and treatment of back and neck injuries in particular. I also assist those patients admitted to our hospital with neuromuscular diagnosis, such as stroke, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries. Our goal is to try to assist your primary provider in allowing you to live a full life, even if interrupted by pain sometimes, or most of the time, with non-pharmacologic treatments for pain. We also strive to keep patients' lives as normal as possible when they are in pain. Most studies show that working with pain does not increase risk of more serious injury.

How I thrive

I am trying to lead by example. I try to combine my family time away from work with physical activities that serve my mind, body and soul. I haven't always placed these principles first, but it's never too late to change your life, your habits and your health. The most important thing is to get outside. It's difficult to be sedentary once outside the home, whether it's walking around at a mall or along a path at the beach, or riding along a bike trail. I try to promote an active lifestyle to my children, and I try to encourage the same with my patients. As I tell my patients, you control your condition; it should never control you. You control the destiny of your life!
