About Me

Welcome to my Web page.

Biography

I grew up in a small Italian neighborhood outside of Providence, Rhode Island where I developed a life-long love for the Red Sox, pasta, and Dunkin Donuts coffee. I earned a B.A. from Providence College and an M.A. from Brown University. I attended Wake Forest University School of Medicine where I was ranked number one in my medical school class, served as class president, and served as president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. I completed my dermatology residency at UC Irvine where I served as chief resident. I’m board certified in dermatology and have been with Kaiser Permanente since 2007. I am also the physician director of Health Care Transformation at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, and lead of one of the country’s largest telehealth programs. I’ve been quoted in many publications including The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Health magazine, and Reader's Digest, and have been named a top doctor by O, The Oprah Magazine and a “rock star of dermatology” by Glamour magazine, (making me my niece’s coolest uncle).

About my practice

I am pleased to work with such talented and dedicated physicians as we have here in San Diego. I enjoy seeing members of all ages with medical or surgical skin problems and am happy to see you for your simple warts or your complex skin disease. I'm also one of our administrators and have given over 50 lectures on topics including social networking, reputation management, patient empowerment, health information technology, healthcare design, and telehealth.

How I thrive

I exercise daily and love to walk to local restaurants and farmers markets in downtown San Diego where I live. My wife and I love to travel, so when I’m not working, I can usually be found on a Southwest flight most likely reading a biography of Teddy Roosevelt on my Kindle.
