About Me
I grew up in Vermont and moved to Portland about 25 years ago to do my residency in Ear, Nose and Throat. I spent 5 years in Alaska, working for the Alaska Native Medical Center, then moved back to Portland when a Kaiser Permanente position became available. My practice covers the scope of otolaryngology conditions, but in the past 4 years, I have had the pleasure of focusing on thyroid and parathyroid surgery. I have 2 children.
About my practice
I believe that members want to be heard, and they want someone to figure out their symptoms or resolve their problems. I do my best to help them understand what is healthy, to focus on what can be fixed through medicine or surgery, and to explain the situation thoroughly when we can't alleviate a symptom, so they can better adapt. I see both benign and malignant conditions of the thyroid and parathyroid. I work closely with endocrinologists to guide members through both the medical and surgical aspects of their conditions.
How I thrive
In addition to spending time with my family, I have many interests outside of medicine, including quilting, cooking, gardening, and my book club. I love nature and the outdoors and recently purchased a vintage trailer with which I hope to explore even more of the Pacific Northwest. I walk my Bernese Mountain Dog, Timber, as many mornings as I can.
