About Me

Welcome! I am an internist and a hospitalist, which means I care for our adult members who have been admitted to the hospital.

Biography

I am from Vietnam, and speak and write Vietnamese fluently. I attended Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California, and graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in engineering. Prior to medical school, I worked for as a software and electrical engineer, but my true love and passion is medicine. I completed my residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Riverside General Hospital. In my practice, I love the daily contact with people from all walks of life, and consider it a privilege to care for them when they are sick. My background in engineering helps me approach challenges from different perspectives, and problem solve in a clear-cut and systematic way that is easy for patients to understand. I believe that health care should be a collaboration between the doctor, the patient, the family, and the entire medical care team. When patients have a clear understanding of our treatment plan, it can ease fear and anxiety about their care.

About my practice

I have devoted most of my time to caring for patients in the hospital, but I also see patients in the emergency room and urgent care, as well as the walk-in clinic and preoperative clinic for those preparing for surgery. I like the variety and intense pace of my work. In addition, I teach medical students from the UC Riverside-UCLA School of Medicine.

How I thrive

For fun, I enjoy playing tennis with my wife and children, reading, and writing. I also enjoy tutoring my children in their schoolwork, and having discussions with my teenage daughter about current events, science, music, literature, or whatever is on her mind. Woodworking is another favorite hobby. I believe that exercising the mind by reading and learning new things every day is just as important as physical exercise for the body.
