About Me

Hi! Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this opportunity to introduce myself and my practice to you.

Biography

I moved from Detroit, Michigan, to sunny Southern California in 2015 because I wanted to live in a place where I could be outside all year round. I have lived in many states growing up—Wisconsin, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, and Oklahoma—before moving to Michigan to do my residency. I also lived in Australia for a couple of years as a little girl. I did my undergraduate degree at Grinnell College in Iowa, and then I went to the University of Oklahoma for medical school and did my residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. After residency, I joined a private practice in the Detroit suburbs, where I worked for 11 years before moving to Ventura County to work for Kaiser Permanente.

About my practice

Preventive care is very important to me. I like to work together with members as a team to help promote a healthy lifestyle and prevent chronic disease when possible. Since we are a team, I like to make sure that you will understand everything I am recommending and the decisions we are making together for your health, so I try to explain everything in terms that you will understand. In my opinion, there are no stupid questions. I encourage you to ask any question that you might have about your health so I can better help you to live a healthy lifestyle.

How I thrive

I moved to Southern California and started working for Kaiser Permanente to help achieve better balance in my life. At Kaiser Permanente, I can focus on patient care, which is the most important to me. In my private practice in Michigan, I had to be involved in running the business, and this took time away from patients and from my personal life. My husband and I enjoy being outdoors. We love to bike, hike, and kayak. We could only do these activities 4 months out of the year in Michigan, and we are happy to be able to do everything we want year round in California. I started practicing yoga during residency to help manage the stress of the workload, and it helps me even now—I have found a great studio in Ventura to continue to grow my yoga practice.
