About Me
Hello friends, I am Mark Anthony Santos, family physician at the Kaiser Permanente Victorville Medical Offices. I am very excited to finally join Kaiser Permanente! I truly enjoy the supportive environment here in the high desert. Very warm (literally)! I speak very fluent Tagalog/Filipino.
Biography
When I was younger, I always said "when I grow up, I want to be a doctor." I never imagined this would come true. It was not easy: I am from a not-so-fortunate family in the Philippines, and had no medical family background. I finished my pre-med (biology) doing student work in school (Angeles University). After that I came to Southern California, worked few years as a caregiver here, and went back to Philippines to finish my medical school. I completed my residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and graduated in 2007. Since then, I’ve been in Southern California practicing as a board certified family physician.
About my practice
I work together with my patients in planning their health care needs, and try to focus on lifestyle modifications, preventing illness, and avoiding medications altogether if possible. I encourage members to email me or call should symptoms arise or worsen. I strive always to provide my patients with the best care possible. I particularly like dealing with metabolic syndrome: blood pressure, blood sugar and diabetes, obesity, and cholesterol.
How I thrive
Coming from a family with a lot of diabetes and heart problems, I knew I had to do something big to prevent this. I removed ALL rice from my diet in 2010. I dance, I sing, I bowl, I walk, I run, I do boxing, CrossfFt, and lift weights. I make sure I have fun every time I do these to make it right. As with everybody else, it does not work all the time but I always try to "STICK WITH THE PLAN" (my motto).
