About Me

I was born and raised in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island and am a proud graduate of Konawaena High School. (Go Wildcats!) My parents, who immigrated to Hawaii from the Philippines before I was born, have made a significant impact on my life by teaching me the values of hard work, determination, and love of family.

About my practice

From the time I was a small child my parents encouraged me to become a physician. Their influence, along with my desire to help others, made medicine a natural career choice for me. Family medicine is most attractive to me as a specialty because it allows me to understand the bigger picture — to know the patient as an individual as well as in the context of family. My professional affiliations include membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association. To keep up-to-date with the latest developments in my field, I attend medical conferences and read professional journals. I think the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group is an exceptional organization, and I feel honored to be a part of it. I greatly appreciate its emphasis on high-quality care and putting the patient first. I’m also grateful for the wonderful support staff and cutting edge technology that assist me in helping my patients. My philosophy of care is to encourage a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent disease later in life. I value open and honest communication and working cooperatively with my patients. This involves taking the time to learn what makes each person's experience and history unique and then tailoring treatment to the patient’s individual situation.

How I thrive

In my time away from work I enjoy running, reading, playing tennis, hiking, taking my kids to the beach, and spending quality time with family and friends. I also feel very fortunate living in Hawaii that I have access to wonderful fresh produce from our local farms.
