About Me

I was born in southeast Portland and grew up attending Portland public schools and the University of Portland. After that I trained in Hyde Park, Chicago (same neighborhood as the Obama family home!), Santiago, Chile (where I became fluent in Spanish, my grandfather's first language), and finally Boston. I loved my Hyde Park and Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhoods for their small local grocery stores and numerous green spaces—like Portland. I completed residency at a wonderful safety net hospital—Boston Medical Center—which emphasized exceptional, culturally competent care that I highly value. Now I am thrilled to be back in the Pacific Northwest to practice medicine.

About my practice

I trained in family medicine because I enjoy treating patients of all ages and appreciate a comprehensive approach to maintaining health and coping with illness. My practice style is to develop a collaborative relationship between the member and me. My particular interests include adolescent health, women's health and family planning, and the role physicians play as advocates for timely access to quality care on behalf of their patients and the communities they serve.

How I thrive

Outside of work I love running, swimming, and hiking, and I almost always fit exercise into my day. Other hobbies include eating my way around Portland restaurants, spoiling the family dog rotten, and dropping into the occasional improv comedy class.
