About Me
I was raised in the Bay Area and moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2011. The weather is much like San Francisco, and so it was easy to call Portland home.
About my practice
I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2015 and have been a therapist for over a decade. I strive to help folks who experience anxiety, depression, bipolar, and other mental health conditions. Many of my clients are adults/families who have struggled with such issues as addiction, codependency, trauma, sexuality, and gender expression. I bring a strength-based humanistic approach to my work, believing that despite past events and behaviors, people want to improve the quality of their inner lives and their relationships. I have used body-centered modalities, as well as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and behavior modification to help expand awareness about life choices. I have some training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Reiki. I continue to believe that the mind-body-spirit connection is vital to understanding the complexity of what it means to be human. Such questions might be approached through this lens: What does it mean for me to be human? How can I come to terms with my situation? How can I have compassion for myself as I work through difficulties?
How I thrive
I like to kayak with my family. My favorite seasons are spring and autumn. I appreciate a good book sale at the local library, and short stories are my favorite genre.
