About Me

I was born and raised in Norwalk, Connecticut, a small suburban town an hour from New York City. My father was an airline manager, so I was fortunate to be able to vacation in Hawaii a few times as a child. In medical school I did two clerkships here, and I was later assigned to Hawaii as part of my service obligation to the U.S. Army in return for the medical school scholarship I received. My father had a great influence on my life. He taught me the value of hard work and treating others with benevolence, respect and dignity.

About my practice

In college I did a clerkship with a famous pediatrician who helped pioneer the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as cystic fibrosis and phenyketonuria. She was a mentor to me and her unmatched dedication, compassion and caring became a lifelong inspiration. I chose interventional radiology as a specialty after receiving some wise advice from other physician mentors. Interventional radiology requires a unique combination of diagnostic imaging skills (CT, MRI, ultrasound) and therapeutic skills for minimally invasive image guided therapies. It is a field that poses diagnostic and therapeutic challenges and which requires innovation and technological expertise. I love my work and I love being able to help other physicians and patients. After residency, I served as a radiologist in Heidelberg, Germany for two years. I was later assigned to Tripler Medical Center as a staff attending for three years before joining Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG). HPMG has the best teamwork and collaboration among physicians and staff of any medical group I have worked in. Thanks to our capable staff, at Kaiser Permanente I can focus on patient care rather than on billing, advertising, or marketing. My philosophy of care is to treat my patients like family. I strive to do what is in the best interest of my patients, to protect them from harm and to be helpful. Communication, compassion and caring for each member’s concerns are critically important in providing high-quality healthcare. I am a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Society of Interventional Radiology and the Western Angiographic & Interventional Society.

How I thrive

To stay healthy, I play tennis, golf, ski and exercise at my health club. I value the time I spend with friends and family, and I especially enjoy traveling with my family and watching my children play sports.
