About Me

I was born on the island of Jamaica, and migrated to the U.S. in 1994. I am married, and we have four adult daughters. I am also a grandmother and love my grandchildren!

My entrance into the medical field can be likened to a right of passage as many my family members work in medicine. I started out as a certified nursing assistant, went on to become a licensed practical nurse, then a registered nurse and I am currently a nurse practitioner. I enjoy working with and helping others and I consider being an advanced practice nurse as an avenue to bring change to the health of individuals.

About my practice

As an adult-gerontology nurse practitioner, I work in the area of continuing care as a skilled nursing facility rounder. Our emphasis is on managing medical issues in a rehabilitation setting. Our team consist of doctors, nurse practitioners and nurse case managers. We work together to help the patient maximize the rehabilitation process in an attempt to get back to pre-illness or near pre-illness level of functioning.

How I thrive

Spending time with family helps keep me centered. I enjoy cooking and traveling, and sampling cuisines from other countries and experiencing other cultures is one of my favorite activities. I also try to learn something new everyday to keep my mind active. I enjoy walking, and during the summer, I will walk 3-5 miles, three times per week. On non-summer days, I create ways to include extra steps at work and home.
