About Me

Being a Tennessee native, I am delighted to be back in the region I call home. I completed my undergraduate degree at East Tennessee State University, after which I continued my education in Florida. I earned my master's degree in public health from the University of South Florida and then completed medical school in Florida as well. My general psychiatry residency training was at the University of South Florida, and I then completed subspecialty training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern, where I also served as chief fellow. After training, I spent a few years in Washington D.C., working in a community mental health clinic where I focused on at-risk youth and their families. I joined Kaiser Permanente in January 2016 because I truly believe in the delivery of coordinated and organized high-quality health care that serves families best and makes providing and receiving health care seamless and easy.

About my practice

I enjoy the opportunity to serve the Kaiser Permanente members in the Behavioral Health Department as an outpatient psychiatrist treating adults, children and adolescents. I value being able to get to know not only my patients, but also their families, so that I can fully understand all the pieces of the puzzle. A comprehensive understanding of patients and their unique social and medical variables assist me with assessment and treatment planning that makes the most sense. I also take advantage of being able to coordinate and integrate care with our members' various Kaiser Permanente providers. Whether it is with their primary care providers, specialists, or pharmacy staff, I look for opportunities to communicate with colleagues so that our members receive safe, effective and efficient health care.

How I thrive

I thrive by maintaining strong relationships with friends and family. This is where I find my strength and energy. My husband and I find the most joy in hosting and entertaining guests, as well as participating in local and national community service projects. We believe that giving back to our communities is our responsibility. I enjoy live shows and music, as well as crafting. The process of creating an idea and being able to make something with my hands is wonderful, and I participate in everything from painting pottery, glass art, mosaics, photo projects and personalized stationary. I am always looking for new crafting ideas!
