About Me

I was born in California and moved to Hawaii with my family when I was five. During my childhood, I lived in several Oahu communities and attended Punahou School before returning to the mainland for my undergraduate education.

I initially studied to be a pilot at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, where I also earned a Master of Business Administration. Later, I attended medical school at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico, where I learned to speak fluent Spanish. I did my internal medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente Hawaii and a fellowship in addiction medicine at the University of Hawaii.

My family’s been an amazing influence, providing me with unlimited support and love my entire life.

About my practice

My lifelong desire to serve others led me to medicine. I can’t imagine a better way to spend my time than caring for my community as a physician.

My work in internal medicine gave me the privilege of caring for patients through every stage of their health journey. Over time, I found myself especially drawn to patients facing substance use disorders, recognizing the complexity and humanity of their stories. This led me to pursue addiction medicine, where I could continue providing holistic, compassionate care. Helping patients reclaim their health and sense of self through recovery has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career.

To keep up with developments and the latest medical research, I use various professional sources, such as the Cochrane Library, UpToDate, and the New England Journal of Medicine.

To provide the best care, physicians must build trust by establishing good communication with their patients, getting to know them as individuals, and inviting them to be partners in decision-making about their health.

How I thrive

To stay physically and mentally healthy, I make sure that I exercise as often as I can, whether it’s weightlifting, running, biking, boxing, or martial arts. I relax by reading, going to the beach, and spending time with my friends and family.
