About Me

Hello, my name is Ray. I'm glad to have this opportunity to introduce myself to you and share my background and experience. It's very important that you feel comfortable with your physician, and I hope this page will help you start to get to know me.

Biography

I was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. I grew up on the northeastern side of town and went to Highland High School. Being from Southern California, I've never wanted to live anywhere else, so I decided to attend UCLA for college. After that, I went to Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona for medical school. A third move took me to Moreno Valley, where I completed my orthopedic surgery residency at Riverside County Regional Medical Center. From there, I spent one adventurous, and cold, year in Columbus, Ohio, for my orthopedic trauma fellowship. When the time came to start my career, an opportunity arose for me to return to my hometown and I didn’t hesitate to seize it.

About my practice

My passion is fracture care. I love puzzles—the challenges they provide, and the sense of triumph and accomplishment when they are solved is very fulfilling for me as a trauma surgeon. Fixing fractures and monitoring their healing gives me such joy and satisfaction. There's never a good time to have an accident or sustain an injury. The pain, inconvenience, disability, and cost of such an injury is a heavy burden on people. To have the ability to help someone return to better health and recovery is extremely rewarding.

How I thrive

My childhood health care experience was completely within the Kaiser Permanente system, so I understand and fully believe in treating each member in mind, body, and spirit. I try to live my life to the fullest each day. My family is the cornerstone in my life. When I’m not with members, I spend the majority of my time with my wife, son, and daughter. I enjoy good food, a competitive game of football or basketball, a tennis match, or a golf tournament. I'm learning to love hockey, and enjoy a good movie at the theater. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me.
