About Me

I was born in South Korea and raised in Southern California. I fell in love with the aloha spirit while vacationing in Hawaii during college and discovered that it was the ideal place for me. I began working with the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group in 2003.

About my practice

During my medical training I realized that I not only wanted to be a doctor, I wanted to be an educator. This encouraged me to pursue a Masters of Public Health in Health Education so I could be more than just a doctor to my patients. I want them to see me as their advocate, interpreter, and partner in health care. I chose a career in internal medicine and pediatrics so I could care for the whole family. When treating family members I am able to understand how the health of one member affects another. I also enjoy interacting with my patients and hearing about what helps them live well and stay healthy. Working as a team, we at the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group strive for the highest quality patient care possible. I admire Kaiser Permanente Hawaii because of its true foundation in prevention. I am also able to focus on my patients without having to worry about the business aspects of health care.

How I thrive

Family is the most important thing to me. I also make a point to exercise, eat healthy, and get enough sleep. My favorite activities are yoga and jogging, but you may see me doing a YouTube workout at my sons’ baseball practice or doing the steps outside their dojo. I always have what I need ready in my car.
