About Me
I became a medical doctor because it is so very rewarding to help people. Surgery was also appealing to me because of its physical problem-solving component. I attended medical school at UCLA and then trained in general surgery in Colorado. I also trained as an Air Force flight surgeon and I am a veteran. After 7 years of community practice, I joined Colorado Permanente Medical Group in 2000. It was a breath of fresh air to realize that at Kaiser Permanente the patient is the customer and center of our work. I was honored to be recognized as a 5280 Magazine Top Doctor in 2019.
About my practice
My style with patients tends to be casual. I take the time to get to know you, and listen to understand your questions and concerns. I believe that as the patient, you make the decisions for your care with the help of your care team. I work as part of the multispecialty breast care team and also as a general surgeon. Even though I’m a specialist, I firmly believe that in health care we need to keep wellness as a priority. Kaiser Permanente provides great care when you’re sick, yet our sweet spot is our work to keep you healthy.
How I thrive
I spend time volunteering to provide help for those in need and who need housing. I am a master beekeeper, which is a very centering hobby. My other activities include hiking and hunting.
