About Me

I wanted to be a midwife for as long as I can remember. I had a great-great-aunt who worked with Dr. Hemingway (Ernest Hemingway's father) as a midwife. I heard stories about her from my mother, who was also a nurse, and that is when my journey and passion began. I went to nursing school at the University of Utah with the goal of becoming a certified nurse-midwife (CNM). At Emory University, I attended graduate school to become a nurse-midwife and to realize a dream. I have been practicing as a CNM for over 20 years providing full scope gynecological, obstetrical, labor and delivery care.

About my practice

I am committed to women's health care and to providing women with choices. As a nurse-midwife, I believe that every woman has a right to safe, satisfying health care that is respectful of human dignity and cultural variation. I believe in the normal processes of pregnancy and birth. I encourage continuity of care, safe and competent clinical management and promotion of health education.

How I thrive

I love to cook, garden and read. To keep fit, I swim, bike and run as I prepare and compete in triathlons. To relax from it all, I do yoga. I volunteer for a coming-of-age mentor program that helps youth explore what it means to move fully out of childhood and into the journey of adolescence.
