About Me

Hello. I have been practicing in the specialty of pediatric allergy at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego since 1977. I welcome this opportunity to introduce myself so that your visits with me in the allergy clinic might be more personal and meaningful.

Biography

I grew up and received my schooling in Philadelphia. I chose medicine because it gives me a chance to use science to help children in a meaningful way. I have been married since 1971 and we have a daughter, an attorney (married to an English professor at Yale), and a son who works in international relations in Washington, DC.

About my practice

I am fortunate to work in our department, where the doctors and staff have been long-term employees. We all share the philosophy of patient-centered medical care and we enjoy working together. I seek to get to know the special attributes of each of my patients as I work with them and their families to treat their allergy and asthma conditions and help improve their quality of life. We have ongoing pediatric asthma research programs in our department to help keep us on the cutting edge and to offer our patients advanced treatment options. As a department, we volunteer our allergy treatment services to LaMaestra Community Clinic.

How I thrive

I am fortunate to be energized and sustained by my daily interactions with my patients and their families. It is a pleasure to work with my colleagues, who are a constant stimulus for me to learn and improve. I enjoy walking, swimming, and playing tennis. I am a big fan of college football and basketball and professional football (go Eagles!). I like to travel and see my children as often as possible.
