Acerca de mí
I am a native South Carolinian, born and raised in the South. I have lived along the East Coast all of my life. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in biology (Go Dawgs!). I went on to receive my doctorate from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami, Fla. I later moved to the wonderful city of Washington, D.C. to pursue a three-year advanced foot and ankle reconstructive surgery residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University Hospital. Shortly after residency, I began working in a private practice setting and realized a multi-specialty environment such as Kaiser Permanente would best fit my personality.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
During my training, I developed a passion for preventive medicine and diabetic limb salvage. I spent a large portion of my residency at the Center of Wound Healing at Georgetown University Hospital, which is at the forefront for research in the field of diabetic limb salvage and wound healing. As a resident, I also gained interest in patient safety and quality improvement. I was one of the founders of the Quality Improvement Patient Safety (QIPS) Council at my residency hospital. This opportunity allowed me to attend the Telluride Patient Safety Conference, which brought in residents of all specialties from across the nation to improve patient safety on a local and national level. I plan to continue these best practices in my current role.
Cómo vivo bien
When I don't have my work hat on, I love to wind down by cooking, traveling or just being a tourist in my own city. I have traveled to over 15 countries and would like to hit 40 by the age of 40. Learning about different cultures and enjoying sights from around the world is a meditating experience.
