Having grown up in Gwinnett County and attended Norcross High School, it is particularly rewarding for me to practice pediatrics at the Kaiser Permanente Gwinnett Medical Center. I decided upon a career in pediatrics as an Emory University student, where I volunteered for many years at Egleston Children's Hospital. After studying chemistry at Emory and industrial engineering at Georgia Tech, I received an Air Force scholarship to Emory Medical School. My military service took me to the San Francisco Bay Area and Albuquerque, NM. As I was completing my military obligation, I received a postcard related to career opportunities with Kaiser Permanente in Atlanta. Fate brought me back to this office, as I now care for the children in the community I consider home.
I am a general pediatrician who cares for children from birth until age 22. I also see our newborn members at Gwinnett Medical Center. Some of the patients I examined as newborns are now in middle school! It has been particularly rewarding to watch children grow, knowing I was there for them since birth. I love to care for children of all ages, and it is this diversity that makes a career in general pediatrics so interesting. In addition to well-child care and minor sick visits, many people are surprised to learn that I evaluate and treat children for ADHD, do stitches in the office, treat dermatologic conditions (such as acne and eczema) and splint children who have broken bones. My goal is to make Kaiser Permanente your medical home. Feel free to call or contact me by email on kp.org any time you have questions.
I have two young children. I look forward to coming home to my children's hugs and taking them to the park. Family keeps you grounded. My wife is an excellent cook, and we look forward to cooking together in the evening. Fresh produce from the farmer's market is a treat during the warm weather months. We have enjoyed Dr. Maring's recipes on kp.org for California recipes that call for fresh ingredients. I am also involved with the Starlight Foundation as a member of the board of trustees for the Georgia region. This is an organization that helps seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities. It is a pleasure to give back to the community I serve through this organization.
