Acerca de mí
Although I knew I wanted to practice medicine at an early age, I did not become interested in eye care until I started college. My grandmother, who had lived with us since I was four, suddenly started running into doorways and tables. We took her to the eye doctor and realized that she had end-stage eye disease. The worst part of the situation was that she had already been diagnosed in her home country 16 years prior, but she had not been educated on her diagnosis and its significance. Had she known more about her disease and how to treat it, her vision could have been saved. This led me to my interest in eye care and my motivation to educate everyone about the importance of preventive eye care.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
As an optometrist at Kaiser Permanente, I work very closely with the Ophthalmology Department. Collectively, we strive to give excellent eye care to each and every one of our members. As a doctor, I strongly believe in patient education and the importance of each patient being involved in decisions regarding their care. Knowledge is power.
Cómo vivo bien
"Practice what you preach." Day in and day out, I encourage our members to eat well, exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Recently, I made a commitment to do the same. Over the past year, I have run multiple 5K races (which is quite surprising because six months prior, I could not even run a quarter of a mile without being out of breath!). My goal for this year is to run a 10K race. I have also made it a point to eat healthier meals, although I have been known to indulge in cheese dip from time to time!
