Acerca de mí
After growing up in New Jersey, I am happy to exchange the East Coast winters for the Atlanta summers. I like to say I also "served my time" in upstate New York. First, I went to Binghamton University for my undergraduate studies and then to medical school at State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center at Syracuse. I have fulfilled my lifetime quota of shoveling snow! When I was young, I always wanted to become an archeologist and dig up dinosaur bones. However, after working summers at a camp with special needs children, I knew pediatrics was my calling. I completed my pediatric residency in New Brunswick, N.J. I spent a year as chief resident and then joined the faculty teaching and seeing patients in the faculty office. After ten years of practicing in New Jersey, we made the move south and love it. Although I enjoy working with all types of children, my area of interest is helping children with chronic medical problems, and in particular, coordinating care with subspecialists and newborns.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Practicing pediatrics, watching children develop and grow, has been a passion and joy. I have been privileged to help first-time parents navigate the unknown of having a newborn as well as guiding teens through the stressful problems they face. I have always viewed my involvement with parents and their children as a partnership, but have never been afraid of giving an opinion or finding the answer to a difficult question. Like my father and sister who are involved in education, I often see myself as a teacher.
Cómo vivo bien
Most of my life these days revolves around running in some form - usually running one of my four daughters to an activity! Once in a while I get to run for myself, either for exercise or in a road race or triathlon. I never realized how transformative daily exercise can be until my wife and daughters joined me. Finishing a 5K race with my two oldest daughters is a memory I will never forget. Ranking next to that in great memories are the times I have been able to help a parent or child find the motivation to change and live a healthier life.
