Acerca de mí
I was born and raised in Colorado (and I am a diehard Denver Broncos fan). I attended Stanford University in California, where I completed undergraduate and master's degrees in electrical engineering. My desire to work with people and interest in a career that inspires me daily led me to change my career path to medicine. I moved to Durham, N.C. where I spent my 11 years of medical training at Duke University Medical Center. I met my wife during college, and it was mutual employment opportunities after our medical training together at Duke that led to our relocation to Atlanta.
We have loved raising our two children in this area with mountains, beaches, parks and all other recreational activities within driving distance. In my non-work hours, I enjoy spending time with my family, hanging out with friends and really enjoying all that this wonderful region has to offer. On a more personal note, I find exercise to be a healthy stress-relief for myself, and I enjoy discussing non-pharmacologic (lifestyle) approaches to improving health with my patients.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I practice non-invasive cardiology with a focus on disease prevention, as well as complex management of valvular heart disease and heart failure. I thoroughly enjoy working with our members to manage/prevent illness through both lifestyle and pharmacologic approaches. I have an extensive background in multimodality imaging with training in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac MRI and cardiac CT angiography. I am also board-certified in cardiovascular diseases, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac CT. I use this knowledge base to choose the best and safest form of testing for our members when indicated.
In my previous role as a non-invasive cardiologist at a local hospital, my work included complex imaging, and I look forward to applying that skill set to our members at Kaiser Permanente. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work at an organization that truly puts the patient first, and I look forward to developing long relationships with my patients on a path towards better health.
Cómo vivo bien
Family keeps me grounded. Having a wonderful wife and two energetic, engaging children keeps me active and makes it easy to have good work-life balance. I really do enjoy physical activity and exercise; I have found exercise to be the common thread through my education and medical training that I use to keep me happy and focused. Outside of spending my time with family, getting to the gym, and completing life's tasks, on my other downtime I enjoy reading or catching up on good movies that I have missed.
