I am a native of Georgia and grew up just north of Atlanta in the city of Cartersville. I attended University of Georgia, where I received a bachelor's and master's degree in social work. I have always enjoyed helping others, which is what led me to pursue social work as a profession. As a little boy, I was the kid in the neighborhood that the older folks would call on to do errands for them. As an adolescent, I was the person that everyone came to talk to about their problems. As an adult, I have worked in a variety of settings with a primary focus on child and adolescent issues.
Most of my experience has been working with children and adolescents who are dealing with a range of issues from adjustment disorders to more significant behavior issues. I especially enjoy working with children who have been diagnosed Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I also have experience working with adults. My philosophy about helping others is to meet people where they are and help them through the twists and turns of getting to where they desire to be.
I enjoy running and doing landscaping and gardening type activities. My goal is to one day run a half marathon and maybe even a marathon. I also serve in a leadership role at a local church, which is probably the most energizing thing I do. I take great satisfaction and pleasure in serving and leading the people in the community in which I live.
