Kaiser Permanente medical center practitioner
Idioma que hablo:
Sí, acepto pacientes nuevos.
I was born and raised in Mississippi. My parents instilled in me and my twin sister the importance of education and service to others. The practice of medicine was a natural choice for me. My journey began at Tougaloo College majoring in chemistry. I initially considered a career in nonclinical medicine, however my desire to have more interaction with patients led me to pursue a career in clinical medicine.
I graduated from medical school at Brown University where I was drawn to primary care. I subsequently completed a family medicine residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School. After residency, I began my career in a start-up practice as a managing partner. I later joined a larger multispecialty group practice to focus more on patient care. I have found that my work as a physician leads to opportunities for personal and professional growth daily.
Primary care physicians are often the first health care professional seen by a patient. These patients may be new or established in a health care system. What a wonderful opportunity to care for these patients and assist in meeting their health care needs! As a physician, the most rewarding and fulfilling aspect of my job is patients recognizing that their doctor has not seen them as a number or diagnosis, but as a person with multiple concerns. These concerns may not be only physical, but may include mental and social as well.
Life is a journey filled with opportunities to learn and often the patient is one of the physician's greatest teachers. I believe being spiritually grounded is a must since all other things will fall into place. Traveling, cooking, shopping and spending time with family and friends are passions of mine.
