Acerca de mí
My family and I immigrated to the United States as Vietnamese refugees when I was six years old. We were fortunate to be sponsored by several kind families who helped us learn English and start over in a new world. Their kindness and generosity fostered in me a love for helping others, especially the needy and those experiencing difficult circumstances. Since an early age, I have actively participated in local charities, community outreach programs and international medical mission trips. These ventures have allowed me to provide eye exams and glasses to the underprivileged people of Costa Rica, Belize and metro Atlanta. My husband and two sons enjoy traveling with me as well when we are not actively involved in activities with our Boy Scout troop, local church and family members in Florida. My parents taught me to work hard and maximize my education to achieve my career goals. I earned my undergraduate degree at University of Central Florida and my doctorate of optometry degree at the Southern College of Optometry in Tennessee.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 2013, I trained and worked in multidisciplinary private group practices with skilled optometrists and ophthalmologists who performed Prelex cataract surgeries, Lasik/PRK surgeries, eyelid procedures, corneal transplants, glaucoma management and specialty contact lenses. Whether seeing patients for comprehensive routine eye exams or on an emergent basis for medical eye needs, I love helping people and getting to know them on a personal level. Along with the other optometrists in my department, I treat red eyes, dry eye, glaucoma and vision complications due to systemic diseases such as diabetes, as well as co-managing macular degeneration, cataract and Lasik patients. I strive to develop long-term relationships with our members through open communication and active listening in order to help them understand and achieve optimal vision and good health.
Cómo vivo bien
I thrive by balancing family, career obligations and healthy living, along with ambitions and adventures. My family and I strive to eat healthy foods, exercise regularly, manage stress and remain active in our church and community. Gardening, traveling, cooking and Bible study are a few of my hobbies. I also enjoy volunteering for charitable projects, participating in legislative efforts and serving in leadership roles within the American Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association (GOA) and Greater Atlanta Optometric Association. My colleagues have honored with me with several awards including Presidential Citations, the Bernard Kahn Service Award and the Georgia Young Optometrist of the Year Award. Currently, I am serving as a GOA Trustee and the lead for the Kaiser Permanente Optometry Department.
